Happy New Year! OK, it’s still 2016, but once you’ve been a student, the beginning of the school year feels like beginning again each year. You’ll find a new slate of fall workshops on our calendar with new (and dear, returning) facilitators, and we’ll also have new opportunities to read with us as we emphasize the R in RAWK. And we have a new RAWKstar in our midst, so we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Marcetti, our new communications associate.
Victoria is a part time artist and full time feeler. You may recognize her from PFC (People’s Food Co-Op) where she lovingly cares for the produce or from the YWCA Children’s Center where she has volunteered and is beginning a new position as Volunteer Coordinator.
Hailing from a small town in the Michigan’s thumb, Victoria made her way to Kalamazoo after several years in Grand Rapids and Philadelphia. She is a strong believer in the importance of community and knows that it takes a village, not only to raise a child, but to give everyone the support they need to grow and thrive. After four years in Kalamazoo, Victoria is finding her place in this village. With a fire for education and access, she is very excited to help RAWK grow and stretch to meet the needs of Kalamazoo’s young people.
Victoria has been a RAWK workshop volunteer, a design volunteer, and a volunteer program coordinator. She will now be the new first line of communication, so look forward to getting to know her through registrations, blog posts, and social media. We are thrilled to have on her board. And we’re excited to see that we’re growing our ability to serve more students, and to offer more opportunities to nurture and amplify youth voices. Welcome, Victoria! Let’s RAWK!
