Summer Drop-In Writing Workshops

In order to minimize the slide in literacy achievement experienced by many students during the summer months, RAWK is offering drop-in writing workshops for youth from third through eighth grade
June 25th to August 17th on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9am-12pm.

Music Mondays, Comic Book Wednesdays, & Science Fridays

Studies found that accumulated summer slide is responsible for two-thirds of the ninth grade achievement gap between low-income students and their middle-income peers, and reading just four to six books over the summer can prevent a decline in literacy achievement between the school years. In addition to helping to maintain and hone reading and writing skills, we’ll also be providing a free book for each student to take home after each workshop.

Drop-in writing is free to all Kalamazoo County youth.
Breakfast, lunch, and snack are included.

I permit Read and Write Kalamazoo to take photographs of my student for the explicit purpose of chronicling and promoting the RAWK program. I understand that any photographs of my child taken during RAWK programming will not be used by anyone not affiliated with Read and Write Kalamazoo.
