This is a collaboration between Read and Write Kalamazoo and Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.
The workshop will have two parts:
Saturday, April 12th (Location: 802 S. Westnedge @ 12:30pm – 1:30pm) – We will have a poetry workshop for middle to high school students at RAWK led by artist Shonda Buchanan featuring pieces at the KIA by Indigenous artists. Youth will create poetry/creative writing about their thoughts on the pieces after they learn about them with our guest artist.
Saturday, April 19th (Location: 314 S Park St @ 2:00 pm to 3:00pm) – The workshop participants are invited to the KIA for a light reception and public reading of their poetry in front of the pieces.
