RAWK has the privilege of virtually hosting Amanda Eke and her workshop–

The Poet Speaks

Saturday, January 23rd

            • 10:00am–11:00am – Middle School aged students (9–13 years old)
            • 1:00pm–2:00pm – High School aged students (14–19 years old)

“The Poet Speaks” is an engaging experience into the culture of Spoken word, rhyme and tradition, held for all ages. Based off her Nigerian Igbo heritage the workshop gives participants a chance to learn about oral traditions and their histories in any context and environment, all while solidifying the fundamental skills of rhyme.

Amanda Eke is a Nigerian American Artist, Poet, Film-Maker, and Scholar. A Fulbright and UN Award winner and author, she uses both her love for film, writing and music to address socio-political issues, and contemporary culture prevalent in society today.

Please inform us of any allergies or health concerns (including any and all medications) which may be pertinent to our time with your student. If student will have medication with them (inhalers, EpiPens, etc.), a form must be completed onsite.
RAWK involves working in large and small groups, one-on-one interactions, giving and receiving feedback, reading aloud, and active listening. Please provide us with any special information you feel would help us create a safe and supportive environment for your student.
Media Release *
I permit Read and Write Kalamazoo to take photographs, audio, and video recording of my student for the explicit purpose of chronicling, promoting, and celebrating the RAWK program. I understand that any media taken of my student taken during RAWK programming will not be used by anyone not affiliated with Read and Write Kalamazoo.
