RAWK Spotlight: Lisa Newberry and Amy Hiss

For the month of January, we are shining the RAWK Spotlight on

Lisa Newberry and Amy Hiss

The RAWK Spotlight is a monthly series that celebrates folx who embody and serve the mission of empowering youth voices. Folx in the RAWK Spotlight can be anyone from staff, to volunteers, to Board Members, to community partners. They are chosen by the RAWK staff team by merit of their passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for serving local youth and their community!

Keep reading to hear what Mrs. Newberry and Ms. Hiss have to say about being in the RAWK Spotlight, and hear from our community members and RAWK staff team about their work with RAWK and the students of Northeastern!

“My time with RAWK has helped reignite the passion of reading and interacting with books among my third graders. My students are excited and engaged with their lessons. I couldn’t be happier to work alongside RAWK. Together, we introduce new and exciting ways for my class to enjoy reading.”
–Lisa Newberry

“I am extremely appreciative for this RAWK Spotlight nomination. RAWK has had such a positive impact on my first and second grade students this year. Teaching a split class has many challenges, and the RAWK staff at Northeastern have worked beside me to help ensure that every student is reaching their potential. I am thankful for the RAWK team and the support they give both the staff and students at Northeastern!”
